Sun-Kissed

He had never looked up there
to appreciate that bright ball of warmth
He had never said a thanks in prayer
to the sun that kept away a storm
He had never appreciated the light it brought
for he had never known what he would be, if it were not
He had never focused on the burn of it's love
and thus, never truly knew the sun above.

He had never really seen the sun,
Until he saw it in someone.

She stood high, and his life orbited around her
She was a source of warmth,
one that seemed to him, familiar.
He daily said a thanks in prayer,
For this star so beautiful, so rare.
He appreciated constantly the illumination she brought
without her, a life, he had not.
Her kisses ignited a flame within
His sun, she was all beauty and blazing skin
He was burned by his own desire, his need for love.
When his sun rose for him, he looked above.

He had never really seen the sun,
Until he saw it in someone.

The Love We Could Not Give

Three young girls met one early morn, two years ago today.
Two mourned and cried. One confessed that she lied
They had no more to say
They had let an angel get away

She had slipped through their fingers when they weren't looking
Frail and delicate she slid easily through
They held eachother now for any form of strength
The cracks in their hearts, now frail and new.

To lose a piece of themselves was something unexpected.
To be broken down into pieces thereafter was something they foresaw.
They broke each other and tried not to mend,
Their cold freezing hearts refusing to thaw
They hated the hearts, their own, that had despised a friend

Their mouths were bitter-
A bad taste of guilt and grief.
They weren't the noose that took her
But could just as well be.
They consoled one another
Tried atleast
To be strong and take no blame
She wouldn't ever play that game

They tried to make sense of it
To get into her head from that moment so tough
To see things as she did
When the tide got so engulfing and rough
They couldn't fathom it
And not even for once, would they ever try to let go of her love

They parted then to leave for home
To prepare themselves for the moment of heartbreak
To let go of a friend to the earth she came from
To Sing to the beauty, dressed in a white as pale as her skin
To leave her, set her free, push her up to heaven

It is there that she sought refuge
It is there, that her inherited love, she will win.

Let's Go Digital

In a country whose population largely consists of youth, we are a nation that’s young, passionate and constantly moving ahead. The digital life is catching on faster than expected and today, almost every task that can be done by humans can be achieved digitally too.  Why then should governance be left behind?

E-governance in my opinion can open up windows to a nation that is finding it so hard to breathe. The claustrophobic feeling when it comes to dealing with any government related task can be done away with, if things were made completely digital. Digitalizing government processes could mean quick, efficient, convenient redressal systems for any issue brought up by the citizens.

Our country was brought out of chains to become a democratic republic, one that gives the people the first say. Our government is ‘of the people, by the people, for the people’, thus, what better way to put that into practice, and I mean really implement that, than to involve what the digital age has to offer us.

Imagine our country, throwing all of this banning hype to the backseat for a while, and focusing on this vision of a digital India, a vision that if materialized, could prove revolutionary for a country like ours that has been seen by the world lately as unmoving. If only we could channelize all of this negative energy and throw it into creating an E-governance platform, we wouldn't have to face any of the issues we’re facing today with regards to snail speed redressal, citizen services, information about reforms and policies and the like. Procedures that took ages to get done manually can be taken care of digitally with the help of e-governance.

All it takes is a smart plan to achieve a #DigitalIndia, a plan that empowers people and not solely the governing authorities. With a vision to use innovation in technology, e- governance can have far reaching effects. Power to the people will finally be something the citizens will actually see, be put into action. I believe that if Technology can change our nation, we can become a democratic republic in the truest sense.

An e-governance platform could prove to be a perfect place for the government to collaborate with the people clearly and thus, reach every nook and corner of India that is screaming to be heard. A digital platform could be the answer to rebuilding the face of India, giving our country and it’s governance a completely new look, fresh and modern, and hopefully, it will push elements that hold us back from developing, out of the way.

This vision of a #DigitalIndia needn't have to be just a vision. With the right resources and the right mindset, we could be catapulted into a world of opportunities and soon, become the nation we dream to be. All it takes is an idea, and a passion to make it happen.

The Heart Wants What It Wants

Women can be loud, and she was as loud as they can get. Literally. Music master, yet noise maker, my best friend and sister from another mister, the one my twin-sister and I fondly call our ‘triplet’ is the woman who has personified ‘optimism’ for me.
And through this blog, I wish to share with you just how.

She was just like your average neighborhood girl, only, she wasn’t. She was different, in a way that only I would understand. The girl had a heart that ruled stronger than her brain. Her emotions took the reins in hand and pulled and pushed her around until she learned all that she could from love and life by the age of 17. It is this control of her heart over the rest of her that has probably taken her where she is today, and has made her an inspiration in my eyes, a woman of substance, a slave to her heart’s desires and dreams.

Anyone in their right minds would say the heart always has its desires, not all of them are practical. I tell you, if your hearts in the right place, you can make any dream come true. This I’ve learned from my little triplet. She showed me, that ultimately, the heart wants what it wants and when it does, nothing can stop it. Her heart flew her continents away from me 2 years ago, and yet, I am in complete awe of her.

In the two years that she has been away in a new country, a new culture, a new college, a new group of friends, she has seen the struggle that life can be. She’s broken down, and cried, and then picked herself up again because ultimately, the heart wants what it wants. And so she fought. She fought every obstacle that came her way, and is still battling it out on that field to show the world she is more than just 'a girl ruled by her heart'. She is ruled by her need to be more. And that in itself drives her to always look ahead, to #LookUp to the possibilities and to the chances that she can make her dreams come true.

She is no superwoman, but she is a hero in her own novel, a fighter in the rink of life, a violinist composing a symphony one shaky note at a time, a singer who’s words sometimes get caught in her throat, a dancer who’s steps aren't pre-determined. She isn’t perfect, but she’s living one day at a time, and to the greatest of her ability. She’s working hard for her heart and to give it what it wants.

She is who I look up to, because she turned from being the girl who over-procrastinated, never attended most of her classes and never did her homework, to someone who is overly aware of her classes, works a part time job, and sits for hours together, writing and rewriting essays until they’re perfect so as to meet college application deadlines.

She’s no longer that average neighborhood girl anymore. Today, in my eyes, she is a woman who owns her life and every move she makes in it. She is my heart.

She helps me #LookUp in life and stay optimistic.  Buying a new home seems like a great start to an optimistic life too. Check out https://housing.com/lookup

My Friend, In Words

Words have always been my friend. You’d call them a mere medium of expression, but to me they’re much more. When inspiration hits, my brain possibly conjures up 2000 words a minute. And inspiration has a habit of coming to me when I least expect it.

Words are my weapon when I need to stand up, words are my tool when I need to fix something, words are my bridge over troubled waters, words are my only companion when loneliness sets in, words become my friend and enemy when relationships get rough, words are my forte, my love, my bluff.

Words played on my mind and danced around my brain for hours together, nagging me to be let out, to be put down on paper, or expressed out in some way or the other. And voila, my blog was born. I saw a change in me, a change caused through passion; passion for expression and an artsy way of doing it. Writing has become more than a recreational activity for me. My blog has turned into a go-to place for me, when I simply have something to say to no one in particular.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, I used to keep these words in, trapped within the confines of my head and never let them out. But there was a time when I decided it’s about time I just say what needed to be said, I no longer cared if anyone was listening. I needed to express myself, and I needed to do it my way. That decision was one that allowed me to #StartANewLife

Today, I’m a creative writer that uses words to express myself in a unique way. I write poetry, and therefore, decorate my words more than necessary. Every piece I write has a story of its own, and every word may not be taken at face value. I am able to convey to my readers several messages through a poem, depending on how they interpret it, and all of this, only because I choose to say what I need to say, irrelevant of whether anyone is listening.

I am a self-proclaimed writer. Words are my strength. Words probably flow faster through my veins than they do through the ink of a pen. And it is my aim to inspire more writers to embrace this passion for words that they sometimes keep to themselves. You may never know when, from the 1000 words that dance around your head per minute, one may be able to touch someone’s life.

Say what you need to say, let your words take over sometimes because they deserve that much, to be free.

#StartANewLife, express yourself, speak your mind,
Write a story or a rhyme,
Now is better than any other time.

And if words are not your thing, but a new home is, #StartANewLife with Look Up, Housing https://housing.com/

The Best 'Together'

Sometimes it's takes you years and years to properly know a person, to understand them, their personalities, their views, the principles they stand for, their weaknesses and strengths, their likes and dislikes and the whole package. And then there’s sometimes, when all it takes is a month to do the same. I've experienced both these types of friendships, and trust me, the latter one, can amuse you.

In a month’s time, not only have I found a friend who insists she camps out in my heart, (and who may actually just move in there permanently) but also a confidant. In a month’s time we've probably learned more about each other than we expected. And it fascinates me, how you can know so much about a person from their moments of happiness, testimonies and trials in life!

She challenges me every day to be better than I was yesterday. She’s constantly pushing me forward, and she doesn't even know it. She teases and taunts and all in good humor, but it works. It works for me. She’s exactly what my life needed at this point of time in my journey, and I think she’s my one way ticket towards the right destination. With her constant motivation, I've found I’m drowning in an ocean of inspiration.

I've had really close friends before, but none as frank, modest, daring and passionate as her. Time spent with her is like walking around with a novel. I’m glued to her story and to whatever she has to share, and just like the characters of a good novel, I get emotionally invested so easily; I am drawn to learn more from her relationships and loved ones.

Together, our lives have gotten so mixed up in each others that there is nothing we don’t already know about the other. Together, we've built a friendship that’s unbreakable. There have been moments when I've thought to myself 'it’s too good to be true, no friendship built in such a short time can last long', but our togetherness has proven time and again, that this is different. She’s a keeper, of that I’m sure. She is a force to be reckoned with, an angel by my side and something tells me, she’ll stay that way for a long time.

A friendship like this only proves and stands testimony to the fact that there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to finding a true friend. You can never know if someone you only just met today, may tomorrow, be your only shoulder to lean on. Go out of your way, make new friends, build stronger relationships. They will only ever do you good. Togetherness has never harmed anyone.

In a month, #together, we've dug deep into each other’s life, deep enough to never be able to climb back out. And who wants to climb back out anyway? We’re happy where we are, and if anything, we’ll fall deeper, together.

Breathless

He woke up this morning and looked at her
Traced an invisible line along her jaw, set so perfectly
Her features, relaxed and so natural, so her.
She has no idea he’s watching.
Her expressionless face speaking more to him than ever before
In the resting of her eyes and lips and the calm of her sweet cheeks
He can read a part of her she never shows the world
For it is only times like these when she’s unaware of his thoughts
That he can take a moment to appreciate her instead of the other way around.
The other way around is what she loves to do all the time.
But today she is asleep, and staring at your soul mate can’t be a crime

There was a time in her life when her breath was taken away
Mind you there is no romance in this phrase
Snatched away from her was her source of life
Taken ruthlessly, right before her eyes.
She saw herself slipping, felt her soul sink
Knows what it’s like to be pushed to the brink
She clawed and struggled and held on for help
But the pleas voiced only in her head,
No sound left her lips, no plea, no yelp
Trapped inside herself, she cried
Worried more of her parents grief if she died
She reached out, needing warmth to hold
Fortunately, a hand, there was one,
One for her, who stayed strong and bold
Betrayal like this she’d never known
To be abandoned by your very own
Life. Life that usually ran through her veins
Was suddenly the cause of a destructive pain
Her chest clenched, an ache no romance novel could decorate
This was real, destroying, a test of fate
Like knives that all chose to stab a sweet spot
Her chest ached as it sank and as her breath caught
For all of two seconds her eyes feel upon
That sweet string of beads, the ones she used to pray on
In all that pain and inability to speak
She pictured only her parents, and how they’d hate to see her weak
She vowed to the lady whose face headed the string of beads
She would fight this, whatever it was, even if it was her last deed
For even if it was really time for the heavens to take her above
She wasn’t going to leave without, her parents knowing her love.

He leaned in and kissed her sleeping face
Thankful for the strength and courage she had kept in place
He wishes he’d been there on that nightmare of a day
To hold her hand and say “baby, stay”
He is grateful nevertheless for the heart within her
That continuously shows the world her strength
And then of course there’s that love she gives so freely
The one, to share, she’d go to all lengths.
He can’t help but admire, in her, that fire
The one that ignites a love so true
A spark that touches, a good kind of burn for every life she’s known
A mark that she leaves, of passion un- fathomable and deeply sown
A tear falls from his eye when he thinks he could have lost her
Lost the wonder of her, the queen of his heart
Lost his significant other, his ‘till death do us part’
He didn't realize, but the warmth of his tear
Brought her to the morn, and she shifted near
She said “What is it? what’s got you up so early dear?”
He said “You. You take my breath away all the time I fear”
He leaned in and kissed her lips so sweet
She gave back to him, like always, a breathless kiss to keep.

His heart swelled, a feeling no romance novel could decorate
This was real, awakening, a blessing from fate.
